A 28 km ESE de Vichy, 22 km à l'ouest de Roanne, 1 km au sud de Saint-Nicolas-des-Biefs. Quitter la D9 (Roanne - Châtel-Montagne) à Le Croix-du-Sud et prendre la D39/D120 vers Saint-Nicolas-des-Biefs et Le Mayet-de-Montagne, à la sortie ouestd e Saint-Nicolas prendre à gauche (S) une petite route direction Boffet qui conduit, au travers d'un lotissement, à une vaste esplanade nivelée. Parking. Un sentier (panneau) conduit en descendant à la Pierre-Châtel (grotte-oratoire).
